Breaking News: Ondo State Protests Insecurity Amidst Governor’s Apathy

Hundreds of protesters, mostly women, have taken to the streets of Akure, Ondo State, to express their outrage over the growing insecurity in the state. The demonstrations, which have shut down Alagbaka, are a direct response to the government’s perceived inaction in addressing the rising cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and violence.

The protesters, armed with leaves and placards, marched to the Government Secretariat at Alagbaka, chanting solidarity songs and expressing their dissatisfaction with the state government’s handling of the security situation.

This development comes amidst allegations that the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been indifferent to the plight of the people. The governor’s response to the protests has been criticized, with some accusing him of downplaying the severity of the security situation.

Notably, Governor Aiyedatiwa has emphasized the importance of state policing and has supported the Amotekun security outfit, which was established to address insecurity challenges in the region . However, the effectiveness of these measures remains a subject of debate.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
