The RCCG Help Weekend is a program that originated from the ushering department but has expanded to other departments, aligning with the church’s foundational belief in “good works” and structured ministry departments. This year’s theme is  “The Power of Care”. The event aims to mobilize members to volunteer for  and community projects, support local relief efforts, and highlight the spiritual benefits of serving others.

As part of the Help Weekend, Pastor Sola Johnson, the Regional Head Usher of Region 22, organized a training and free medical check-up session for ushers in Region 22 today, Saturday, 20th September 2025. There is no denying the fact that Pastor Sola Johnson’s leadership style is truly exemplary, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to the development and well-being of ushers. His dedication to ensuring that Region 22’s ushers are well-equipped through training and retraining is a testament to his passion for excellence in ministry.

The medical check-up session was comprehensive, with tests conducted on Random Blood Sugar (RBS), Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), Blood Film (BF) for malaria parasites, height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI). Medical practitioners, including a medical doctor, were on ground to provide free consultation and medications as appropriate. This initiative underscores Pastor Sola Johnson’s commitment to the physical and spiritual well-being of the ushers.

The training topic was on _The Hurs and Aarons_, based on Exodus 17:8-13. The highlights of the teaching include:

Lessons from Aaron and Hur
1. Visionary Leadership
2. Intercessory Prayer
3. Obedience and Courage
4. Working Partnership
5. Faithful Helpers

Building on these lessons, Pastor Sola Johnson emphasized the importance of ushers embodying certain qualities in their roles.

Expected Roles of Present-Day Hurs and Aarons
1. Emotional Intelligence
2. Hunger for Righteousness
3. Readiness to Go Extra Miles for God
4. Excellent Spirit
5. Faithfulness and Integrity

As ushers strive to embody these qualities, they are encouraged to reflect on their motivations and commitment to service.

Reflection Questions
1. Does God know us?
2. Are we genuinely born again?
3. Who are we truly working for – God or man?

This teaching is aimed at equipping ushers to serve effectively in the vineyard. Pastor Sola Johnson’s commitment to the well-being of ushers is a shining example of servant leadership, fostering a supportive community that serves with excellence and compassion. His leadership is worthy of emulation, and no doubt the mission is proud to have him at the helm of Region 22’s ushering department.
