Ajagba Federal Hospital: Senate Summons Ahaba, Heath Minister

…The Federa Hospital Must Exist Now- Senator Jimoh Ibrahim warns

The Ahaba of Ajagba Kingdom, Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba T.O Adesayo (JP),has been invited by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions to investigative hearing.

According to the letter, the traditional ruler was invited to the investigative hearing on a petition he, Oba Adesayo, and two other persons wrote against the Federal Ministry of Health and sent to the Senate Committee, urging the Ministry to build a hospital to house already supplied medical equipments and deploy medical doctors , to an approved federal hospital at Ajagba, Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The letter signed by the Clerk to the Committee, Christian N. Onwusonye, reads: “I am direct to respectively invite you to an investigative hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions in respect of the above-mentioned petition you and two other persons wrote and sent to the Senate, and referred to the Committee for further legislative action.

“You are requested to appear before the committee in person(no proxy).
You are also requested to submit 15 copies of your written presentation(if any) to the Committee secretariat.

“Note that should you fail to attend the hearing as required, the matter may be heard or determined in your absence.”

The committee also invited the Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Pate, to the legislative hearing.

Meanwhile, Senator representing Ondo Southern Senatorial District, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim declared that the Federal hospital must be built without delay in his district.

He emphasised on the need for the hospital to be built, which he said would take care of the medical needs of the people of the senatorial district.

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim said: “It’s imperative to draw the attention of the Federal Government to build a federal hospital in Ajagba which would take care of the medical services need the people of Ondo Southern Senatorial District.

“As a matter of urgency and necessity, the Federal Ministry of Health should ensure a well equipped hospital is built in Ajagba community to reduce the risk and stress of residents of Ondo Southern Senatorial District travelling several miles to Owo Federal Medical Centre for medical services.

“He emphasised that such hospital would play a vital role in reducing the mortality rate among the people of the district.”

However, the legislative hearing has been scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Senate new building, National Assembly, Abuja.
