Our Vision and Mission Statement by Chief Sola Ebiseni, Labour Party Candidate Ondo State 2024 Governorship Election.

Earlier this year, particularly on the 12th of June at my Alagbaka Akure, Ondo State residence, addressing a gathering of friends and associates in their numbers, I declared that my name would be on the ballot for the November 16th Ondo State governorship election.

It was not a new declaration, indeed one routed in an undying vison, the route of which mission was charted since my University days, when through student activism, I had the opportunities of engagement with the finest political minds of my generation which in no measures spurred me shortly afterwards culminating in my election in 1990 as Chairman of the defunct Ilaje-Ese-Odo Local Government of Ondo State serving until Abacha’s coup of the 17th November 1993.

My service at the local government was a greater eye-opening era, confronted with the stark reality of a land flowing with the proverbial milk and honey, a vibrant and most resourceful people yet paradoxically poor as I navigated the Nigerian territorial space and its murky political waters. Our marks in service delivery remain indelible in the sand of time among which was our successful campaigns for the recognition of Ondo State as oil producing in 1992 with its salutary socio-economic impact on our state ever since.

The era ended with the unfortunate annulment of the June 12 1993 Presidential election won by Chief Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO) and the resultant rise of democratic forces championed by NADECO to revalidate the people’s mandate and put an end to military rule, all of which processes I participated maximally with greater, deeper and varied experiences in the knowledge of the nation, personalities and ideologies that shapes its destiny.

Thenceforth, I have been privileged to be called upon to serve in several capacities ranging from the political to the social and religious which included the review of the laws of Ondo State as Chairman of its Law Commission, thrice as Commissioner, Federal Government Delegate at the 2014 National Conference, the Secretary General of Afenifere Yoruba Socio-political Organisation and as Chancellor, Ilaje Diocese, Anglican Communion.

In these years, our people have demonstrated capabilities in electing leaders with requisite intellectual and administrative capacities which admirably define the quality of the governorship of our state exemplified in giants like Adekunle Ajasin, Bamidele Olumumilua, Adebayo Adefarati, Olusegun Agagu, Olusegun Mimiko and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu virtually all of whom I had the privilege to serve and understudy in different capacities.

In the last eight years our state has suffered untold crises and divisions and more than ever now needs a leader who can truly mobilise our people for development; a leader who is neutral in the debacle so that all, including members of the House of Assembly, top civil servants, traditional rulers and the political class generally who might have knowingly or unknowingly been caught in the crossfire may freely relate with their Governor without suspicion or fear.

It is a task to heal our land, reconcile and unite our people working together for our overall development. I am not only in this mission as the benevolent hands of the Almighty bring together citizens of Ondo State extraction at home and in the diaspora for this patriotic commission without regards for political party affiliations. My hands are no doubt also strengthened by the vigour of my running mate, Dayo Awude, who is of commensurate capacity in all ramifications of the assignments.

The next 6 weeks will thus be critical to our dear state, requiring all hands on deck without sentiments that may compromise its quest for quality leadership to galvanise the development of the land and the people. As the November 16th governorship election approaches, we urge you all, our compatriots, to join on board this voyage of prosperity.
