OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU
His Excellency,
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,
President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,
Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso Rock Villa,
Abuja.
Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
A Call to Retain Excellence: Honourable Olubunmi Ojo as Minister of Interior
We, the members of the Ondo State Scholars Arena for Development Initiative, a registered organization comprising over 10,000 scholars across Ondo State, write to express our utmost admiration for the exemplary leadership of Honourable Olubunmi Ojo as the Honourable Minister of Interior. His remarkable accomplishments and transformative contributions to the ministry have earned him national and international recognition, making him a true asset to your administration. It is with this deep sense of appreciation for his exceptional service that we fervently appeal to you to retain him in this critical position.
Honourable Olubunmi Ojo’s track record of excellence is well known. As a former member of the House of Representatives, he distinguished himself by surpassing the expectations of his constituency, eventually being recognized as Ondo State’s best representative. His tenure as Chairman of the Committee on NDDC resulted in numerous developmental projects that benefitted Ondo State in profound ways. Beyond infrastructural development, his focus on human capital was demonstrated through the provision of scholarships for Ondo State indigenes to study abroad, sponsorship of students through higher institutions, and the facilitation of youth empowerment initiatives. His efforts secured federal employment opportunities for many Ondo State indigenes, thereby enhancing the socio-economic well-being of countless families.
As Minister of Interior, Honourable Olubunmi Ojo has brought about a complete transformation of the ministry. Under his leadership, the ministry has become more visible, more effective, and more aligned with the goals of a modern, responsive government. One of his most notable achievements has been the overhaul of Nigeria’s passport processing system. Honourable Ojo introduced a streamlined, seamless process for passport renewals and new applications, both domestically and internationally. Through his leadership, Nigerian embassies across the world now operate with unprecedented efficiency, ensuring that Nigerians abroad can renew their passports in record time. These embassies have adopted advanced technologies and processes that have drastically reduced waiting times, making passport renewals smoother, faster, and more accessible.
Furthermore, Honourable Ojo has facilitated a transparent and less cumbersome process for Nigerians obtaining fresh passports. In what used to be a laborious and frustrating process, he has implemented reforms that emphasize transparency and accountability. Through digitization and a commitment to operational efficiency, his policies have reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks, significantly cutting down on processing times and eliminating opportunities for exploitation. These efforts have not only improved the experience for citizens but have also enhanced Nigeria’s image abroad, as the Ministry of Interior has now set a new standard for how government services can be efficiently delivered.
In light of speculations regarding a cabinet reshuffle, we urge you, Your Excellency, to give thoughtful consideration to the extraordinary performance of Honourable Olubunmi Ojo and the immense benefits of continuity in leadership. His retention as Minister of Interior will ensure that the reforms he has championed continue to thrive, particularly in a ministry that plays such a vital role in national security, immigration, and citizenship services. His unwavering dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians at home and abroad is a testament to his alignment with your administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, and his departure would undoubtedly be a loss to both the ministry and the nation as a whole.
We, therefore, pass a unanimous vote of confidence in Honourable Olubunmi Ojo and respectfully request that you allow him to continue his transformative work for the betterment of Nigeria. His vision, leadership, and commitment to service are invaluable assets that we believe will greatly contribute to the continued success of your administration.
Thank you, Your Excellency, for considering our appeal.
Signed,
Moyoloye Oloruntimilehin Julius
