LABOUR PARTY CONDEMNS CHANNELS TV’S EXCLUSIONARY DEBATE, THREATENS LEGAL ACTION

The Labour Party strongly condemns Channels Television’s discriminatory decision to exclude it’s party from the upcoming debate for the Ondo State November 16th Governorship election. This blatant disregard for fairness, equity, and democratic principles is unacceptable and undermines the electoral process.

By inviting only the PDP and APC, Channels TV has:

1. Violated the principles of inclusion  and equal representation.

2. Denied the people of Ondo State the opportunity to hear our vision, policies, and programs

3. Undermined the democratic process and the rights of its party and supporters.

We demand that Channels TV:

1. Immediately extends an invitation to our party to participate in the debate.

2. Provides equal opportunity for all parties to present their programs and policies.

3. Upholds democratic principles, ensuring fairness and transparency in it’s  programming.

Failure to Comply will Result in Legal Action.
If Channels TV fails to comply with our demands, the Labour Party will not hesitate to seek legal redress. We will explore all available options, including:

1. Filing a petition with the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to address this breach of broadcasting regulations.

2. Seeking injunctive relief to halt the debate until our party is included.

3. Pursuing damages for reputational harm and electoral disadvantage.

We equally call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to:

1. Intervene and ensure that all parties are given equal opportunities to participate in the electoral process.

2. Enforce the Electoral Act and broadcasting regulations to prevent such exclusions.

“This exclusion is a travesty of democracy. We will not stand idly by while Channels TV undermines our party’s rights and the electoral process. We demand fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.”
