Senator representing Ondo Southern Senatorial District, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim CFR on Thursday visited the scene of the fire outbreak at Okitipupa Market in Okitpupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The senator, upon information on the fire outbreak at the market, visited the scene of the inferno where market stalls were destroyed.
He visited the scene with some traditional rulers from Onod south expressing his sympathy for the owners of the stalls that were consumed by the fire
When the billionaire business mogul realized that the people would have been able to put out the fire but for unavailability of water in the market, he, therefore, promised to sink borehole in the market for the use of the traders.
He also promised to illuminate the market by installing solar lamps in the environment for security reasons.
Having assessed the level of damage and loss recorded by the owners of the shops, Senator Ibrahim immediately donated a sum of N10 million to the owners of the stalls to cushion the loss recorded.
While addressing the people at the market, Senator Ibrahim said: “I want to express my sympathy with you for the loss of your stalls.
“I came down here with our traditional rulers immediately I was informed about the fire outbreak to come and see you and the gravity of the destruction.
“I was told that you would have been able to put out the fire when it began if there had been water here.
“To prevent recurrence of this development, I will come and sink a borehole here for you to use. I will also light up the market with solar lamps which would be installed soon.
“I have seen the level of destruction and the losses being recorded by the affected shop owners, I am donating a sum of N10 million to you so that you can use it to purchase another goods.”
