SWDC Commissioner, Dr Jide Adewinle: Unlocking Ondo State’s Potential for Sustainable Development
Dr. Jide Adewinle, Commissioner representing Ondo State in the Southwest Development Commission, has underscored the significance of industrialization in tapping into the region’s vast potential. During a meeting with prominent foreign investors, he spotlighted exemplary models like the Ogun Free Trade Zone and Lagos’ industrial hubs, advocating for similar investments across the Southwest.
Ondo State is rich in resources that can be harnessed for development, including fertile agricultural land ideal for large-scale farming and agro-processing industries. The state also boasts abundant tourism opportunities, thanks to its unique cultural heritage and natural attractions. Additionally, Ondo State has substantial oil and gas reserves that can be leveraged to drive economic growth and development. With the longest coastline in the region, the state’s marine economy presents opportunities for fishing, shipping, and other related industries.
Dr. Adewinle emphasized his commitment to utilizing these assets to drive sustainable growth, drawing from his extensive private-sector experience. The Southwest Development Commission’s vision aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the OUR EASE initiative, focusing on economic empowerment through programs that support entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic development.
