Sunshine Grassroots Network, Led by Hon. Dayo Awude, Rallies Support for President Tinubu’s Second Term

The Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN), a political support coalition facilitated by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he seeks a second term in office.
The group made this declaration during a press briefing in Akure, where its leadership outlined key achievements of the Renewed Hope Administration and emphasized the need for political continuity to sustain national progress.
Addressing journalists, the Director General of SGN, Hon. Dayo Awude, spoke on behalf of the group alongside other members and leaders of the Network. He described SGN as an amalgamation of members from the Labour Party, PDP, SDP, and new political entrants who recently joined the APC. He reaffirmed their mandate to expand the party’s base, enlighten Nigerians on government achievements, and mobilize broad national support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
The SGN leadership highlighted several reforms and successes recorded under the current administration. Prominent among them was the removal of the fuel subsidy—a decision they described as bold, necessary, and economically life-saving. According to the group, the decision has helped plug major financial leakages and restored resources for national development.
The Network also pointed to the steady rise in Nigeria’s external reserves, which reached $43 billion as of October 31, 2025, and cited affirmations by global economic figures such as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, both of whom noted that the Nigerian economy has stabilized and is on a path to recovery.
SGN praised the unprecedented representation of two ministers from Ondo State in the federal cabinet, describing their performance as exemplary. The group noted that this level of inclusion is a compelling reason for Ondo indigenes and Nigerians at large to support the administration.
Highlighting reforms in the Ministry of Interior, the SGN applauded Minister Bunmi Tunji-Ojo for transforming passport access, enhancing airport operations, deploying e-gate technology, and strengthening border security.
On infrastructure, the group welcomed the ongoing dualization of key federal roads within Ondo State, including the Akure–Ondo Road, Akure–Ado Road, and the Ilesha–Akure–Benin Expressway, as well as the extensive Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway that will pass through the state. They urged citizens to ensure political stability so that these projects are completed without interruption.
Speaking on national security, the SGN commended President Tinubu for declaring a state of emergency on terror and insecurity, and for pushing legislative reforms to establish state police—calling it a long-overdue step previous administrations failed to implement. They also called for swift recruitment into the Army and Police in line with presidential directives.
In conclusion, the SGN reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s progress and urged the media to help disseminate factual updates on national development. The group called on Nigerians to unite behind President Tinubu as the nation prepares for another electoral cycle, stressing that continuity is crucial for consolidating reforms and sustaining growth.
The briefing ended with SGN declaring full readiness to mobilize massive grassroots support for Tinubu’s deserving second term.
This press conference was done immediately after the secretariat complex was commission by the Hon. Minister of interior, Hon. Dr Bunmi Tunji Ojo ably represented by Evangelist Asagunla Muyiwa
