SGN WOMEN’S WING RALLIES SUPPORT FOR TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION, INDUCTS NEW MEMBERS INTO NETWORK
By Kuye Babatunde

The Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) has reaffirmed its commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, as the network’s women’s wing convened a well-attended meeting featuring grassroots coordinators, women leaders, state executives, notable elders and representatives of various professional associations.
The meeting, which brought together representatives of all 18 local government coordinators and women leaders across Ondo State, was described as successful and productive, with renewed calls for party loyalty, intensified grassroots mobilisation and the expansion of SGN’s membership base.
Addressing participants, the Director-General of SGN, Hon. Dayo Awude, reiterated that members of the network are APC members and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to the party.
He charged members across the state to intensify their political engagement and work towards securing victory for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections, in line with the directives of the network’s national leader, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior.
Awude emphasised the importance of unity, discipline and loyalty, noting that the network’s strength lies in its grassroots structures and ability to connect with the people at the community level.
He also called on members to take the message of the APC to their respective communities, engage voters and sustain the mobilisation efforts necessary to achieve the party’s electoral objectives.
Speaking further, Awude highlighted the achievements and ongoing reforms of President Tinubu’s administration, arguing that the progress recorded under the Renewed Hope Agenda provides a strong basis for the president’s re-election campaign.
He urged members to communicate the administration’s policies and achievements effectively, stressing that sustained engagement with the electorate would be crucial to securing public support.
A major highlight of the meeting was the introduction and induction of new members into the network through the Ifelodun Women’s Group, a women-led organisation with membership spread across the state and led by Hon. Mrs Johnson Magret.
The group acknowledged SGN’s activities and grassroots interventions, explaining that its decision to join the network was informed by its recognition of the organisation’s efforts and its desire to contribute to the movement’s objectives.
Among the notable new entrants was Hon. Mrs Elesaodo, a former Labour Party candidate for the Akure South and Akure North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives election, who has since defected to the APC.
Her inclusion, alongside other women joining the network, was regarded as a significant development in SGN’s efforts to broaden its reach and strengthen its grassroots political structure.
The induction also provided an opportunity to welcome the new members into the network and encourage them to participate actively in its mobilisation, community engagement and development initiatives.
The Director of Women’s Affairs, Hon. Tolani Hassan, also addressed the gathering, charging women across the network to intensify their activities at the grassroots.
She encouraged women leaders to organise regular meetings, strengthen their local structures and mobilise women within their respective communities and areas of influence.
Hassan stressed that women remain an important force in grassroots politics and that their active participation would be essential to expanding SGN’s reach and communicating the network’s message to a wider audience.
She urged the women to move beyond meeting attendance by translating their participation into practical community engagement, voter outreach and sustained mobilisation.
The meeting also attracted representatives of the Federal Workers Association of Nigeria, the Association of Secondary School Teachers, theatre practitioners and DRI, alongside other stakeholders and notable elders of the network.
Their presence reflected the broad range of interests represented within the gathering and provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas on strengthening the organisation’s activities and expanding its influence across Ondo State.
Beyond its political objectives, the meeting reinforced the importance of cooperation, collective responsibility and sustained engagement in building a stronger grassroots netwot
The atmosphere throughout the meeting was lively and enthusiastic, with participants expressing renewed confidence and determination to strengthen their involvement in the network’s activities.
The gathering ended on an optimistic note, with members leaving with renewed energy and a shared commitment to intensifying grassroots mobilisation in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
For SGN, the meeting represented more than a routine gathering of its women’s wing. It served as an opportunity to consolidate existing structures, welcome new members and reinforce the network’s commitment to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
With its emphasis on party loyalty, women’s participation and community-level mobilisation, the network is positioning its grassroots structures to play an active role in the political activities leading to the next electoral cycle.
