Bola Ige lauds Senator Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim.

Geologist Bola Ige Lupo extols Senator Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim on his bill to establish bitumen development commission in Nigeria. The bill has passed it’s first, second and third readings in the senate, showing process in the reality of bitumen exploration and development in the country. The bill will oversee bitumen exploration, exploitation, gives host communities a global exposure and will expose Nigeria’s tremendous bitumen reserves valued at $42 billion, meaning it would provide alternative revenue stream for Nigeria, reducing dependence on crude oil and will create massive employment opportunities for Nigerians.

Nigeria bitumen which is the second largest deposit in the world spans through Edo, Ondo, Ogun, and parts of Lagos was emplaced by bitumen diagenesis process over million years ago largely untapped with significant potential for development and exploitation due to non-regulatory framework that will attract investors.

The bill of Senator Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim to establish bitumen development commission in Nigeria will address all the lingering impediments that have been drag-footing the exploitation and development in Nigeria.

I want to believe that Senator Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim’s mastery understanding of complex issues and his astute expertise in navigating the intricacies of legislation and governance has brought about this giant stride because we have had many leaders who could not achieve this in the past.

May I congratulate the host communities and encourage them not to panic about the environmental impacts of the exploitation. Regulatory frameworks and enforcement, technological advancement with best practices will be adopted to minimize their environmental impacts. However, crude oil environmental impacts have more severe effects on ecosystems than bitumen environmental impacts, yet people are surviving in the crude oil processing area with massive industrial plants.

As a geologist, I want to express my unalloyed gratitude to Senator Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim for his efforts in sponsoring a bill to establish bitumen development commission in Nigeria. Your dedication is appreciated and we are grateful for your commitment to making a positive impacts in national assembly.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

May your efforts bring positive impact and blessings to Nigeria in Jesus mighty name amen.

Signed.
