Awude-Led SGN Begins Farmers Support Drive, Reaches Hundreds in Ondo Central

The Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) has officially flagged off the Tinubu Farmers Support (TFS) Programme in the Ondo Central Senatorial District, commencing with the distribution of agricultural inputs to hundreds of farmers across key communities. Beneficiaries, who converged at Ilu-Abo, were drawn from Ilu-Abo, Ita-Ogbolu, Iju, and some communities in Ifedore, receiving essential farming tools including sprayers and rain boots aimed at enhancing productivity and easing farm operations as the planting season progresses.

The exercise recorded a large turnout of farmers and community stakeholders, who described the intervention as timely and impactful. They noted that the provision of sprayers and protective gear would significantly reduce manual labour, improve efficiency, and boost agricultural output across their communities.

Addressing the gathering at Ilu-Abo, the Director General of SGN, Dayo Awude, delivered the goodwill message of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. He highlighted several intervention programmes sponsored through SGN and allied platforms aimed at improving grassroots livelihoods and strengthening agricultural productivity. He further disclosed that additional empowerment initiatives are in the pipeline to further support farmers and enhance food security across Ondo State.

Hon. Awude also urged the farmers to continue their support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling on them to back his re-election bid to ensure continuity of ongoing development programmes and reforms.

Beneficiaries, including community leaders and farmers, expressed deep appreciation for the initiative. The APC Ward 6 Chairman, who also benefited from the programme, commended SGN for the gesture, noting that it would greatly improve agricultural productivity and livelihoods at the grassroots level. Other farmers also praised the intervention, describing it as a demonstration of consistent care for the people.

They extended gratitude to Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for sponsoring the programme and his continued commitment to rural development. The beneficiaries offered prayers for his success, strength, and wisdom, while reaffirming their unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They declared: “Wherever BTO is going, that is where we are going,” signalling their full political backing.

Recall that SGN in the past year implemented several grassroots programmes across Ondo State, including the Tinubu Widows Mite initiative, which supported over 5,000 widows with rice and cash gifts. The group also initiated and executed the Tinubu Free Fuel (TFF) programme and distributed aprons to traders across the three senatorial districts under the TINUBU SGN ATAJERE APRON scheme.

The second phase of SGN’s interventions now continues with the Tinubu Farmers Support (TFS) Programme, targeting over 5,000 farmers across the state with agricultural inputs and empowerment support.

While these initiatives are driven by SGN, they are sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in support of the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
