FLOOD DISASTER: FADUYILE BRINGS RELIEF, HOPE TO VICTIMS IN ONDO SOUTH

The Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, has facilitated the distribution of relief materials to families affected by the recent flooding in Okitipupa and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas of Ondo State. The intervention, flagged off in Okitipupa on Tuesday, September 29, included rice, beans, garri, vegetable oil, mosquito nets, beds and other household items.

The gesture followed Senator Faduyile’s personal visit to several flood-ravaged communities in Okitipupa in August, where he inspected the damage and interacted with affected residents. He visited Aja Akinneyin Quarter, Akoko/Sedara/Ajagbale New Site, Off Omowa Street and the General Hospital axis, assuring residents that he would pursue assistance to cushion the impact of the disaster.

Keeping to his word, the Senator subsequently facilitated the intervention through the relevant emergency management authorities. Speaking through his representative at the distribution, Faduyile said responsive representation required standing with constituents in times of difficulty, adding that the intervention was designed to support families as they recover and rebuild.

A beneficiary, Chief Emaye Omotola, commended the Senator for returning with tangible assistance after his earlier promise. He described the gesture as evidence of a caring leadership that listens to the people, while Mr. Paul Oniyemofe, a beneficiary from Ese-Odo, also praised the Senator for the timely intervention, saying the items would help affected families cope with the aftermath of the flood.

The Chairman of the Senator Faduyile Relief Materials Distribution Committee, Hon. Sola Ehinmisan, said the beneficiaries were properly profiled and accredited before the distribution to ensure an orderly and transparent process. The Secretary of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Femi Oladokun, also commended Faduyile, describing the intervention as a demonstration of responsive leadership and appreciation for the plight of the people.

Residents of Akoko/Sedara Street and Ajagbale New Site, represented by Mr. Wole Omosule and Mr. Benson Ogunji, separately expressed gratitude to the Senator, saying his intervention had brought relief and renewed hope to families who lost homes, property and farmlands to the flood. They prayed for Faduyile and called on other public-spirited individuals, organisations and government agencies to support communities still recovering from the disaster.
