BREAKING: BEDC Reports Progress in Resolving Electricity Workers’ Strike in Ondo, Ekiti and Delta

BEDC Electricity Plc has announced significant progress towards resolving the industrial action embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), following the suspension of the strike in Ondo, Ekiti and Delta states.

In a statement issued in Benin City on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the electricity distribution company described the development as an important step towards restoring normal operations across its franchise areas after disruptions affected electricity supply to homes, businesses and public institutions.

The company said the suspension of the industrial action in the three states reflected progress in engagements aimed at resolving outstanding labour issues, expressing optimism that continued dialogue would lead to a comprehensive settlement.

However, BEDC disclosed that the industrial action remained ongoing in Edo State, where management said discussions with relevant stakeholders were continuing to achieve an amicable resolution and facilitate the return of normal operations.

The development is expected to support efforts to restore electricity distribution services in affected communities across Ondo, Ekiti and Delta states, although the pace of recovery will depend on network conditions and operational requirements.

BEDC acknowledged the difficulties customers experienced during the disruption, particularly healthcare facilities, businesses, educational institutions and households that rely on regular electricity supply for their daily activities.

The company assured customers that operational recovery efforts were being prioritised to support the safe and gradual restoration of electricity supply to affected areas.

It also reiterated its commitment to employee welfare, constructive industrial relations and the delivery of essential electricity services across its franchise states.

BEDC expressed appreciation to customers, community leaders, government authorities and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding during the disruption.

The company said it remained hopeful that the progress recorded in Ondo, Ekiti and Delta would contribute to a lasting resolution of the industrial dispute and the eventual normalisation of operations across its four franchise states.

BEDC added that further updates would be communicated through its official channels as developments unfold.

The statement was signed by the management of BEDC Electricity Plc.
