The Federal College of Education Kontagora receives the New Governing Council members led by Professor Francis Adedayo Faduyile OON

Members of the 8th Governing Council of the Federal College of Education Kontagora, recently inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Education, ProfessorTahir Mamman, arrived the Federal College of Education , Kontagora, on Monday, September 1, 2024. They were received by the Provost, Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna in company with the other members of Management The members of the Council are:

1) Professor Francis Adedayo Faduyile OON – Chairman;

2) Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna – Provost;

3) Mr Olauyi Tayo Samson.- Presidential Appointee.

4) Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Kontagora – Presidential Appointee;

5)Alhaji Karaye Ibrahim Ahmed – Presidential Appointee;

6) Pastor (Hon) Sunday Ekanem Ibout – Presidential Appointee;

7 )Arua Margret Awa (Mrs) – Rep. FME;

8) Barrister Bello Abdullahi – NCCE Rep;

9) Dr Aminu Mallam Yakubu Umar – Deputy Provost;

10) Alhaji Adamu Mamman Kontagora – (Alumni Rep.) – member;

11) Dr (Mrs) Habiba Sadiq Alhaji – Academic Rep, College Congregation ;

12) Mr Ebohon Godfrey Oguan. Elected Academic Rep at College Congregation;

13) Barrister Aisha Yakubu Bukar -Elected Non Teaching Staff Rep, College Congregation

14) Alhaji Abdullahi Ndaliman Kawu – Elected Non-teaching Staff Rep, College Congregation?

15) Malam Awal Inuwa Muhammad – Elected Academic Board Rep:

16) Mr Audu Abdulmalik, O Elected Academic Board Rep. -member; and

17) Alhaji Yusu Ahmed Doma – Registrar and Secretary to Council.

Shortly after their arrival, the Governing Council were led to the Emir Palace by the Provost. They were received by his Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Barau Muazu II and his Chiefs-in-Council. The Governing Council paid homage to his Royal Highness and sought for his royal blessings.

In his response, the royal father congratulated the new Governing Council and charged them to carry out their assignment with utmost diligence and with the fear of God. He assured the Council of his support and cooperation. He wished them success in their assignment.

The Council also paid courtesy call to the Executive Chairman, Kontagora Local Government, Honourable S. Pawa and the Area Commander, Nigerian Police, Kontagora. Members of Council were assured of his support and cooperation as well as their safety.

The Provost, Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna, also conducted the members of the Council to projects sites in the College for sightseeing.The Council visited the expanded College Clinic, ECCE complex, Multi purpose hall, 1000 capacity CBT centre, Students hostel, new science laboratory, new Registry complex, newly constructed staff offices (some of these projects are completed while some are near completion) all build by Professor Faruk Faruk Rashid Haruna. .

The members of Council were fascinated by what they saw and commended the Provost and his Management team for achieving these much within the shortest time he was appointed Provost of the College.

Another imposing structure which caught the attention of the members of the Council was the New College Library which is 75 percent completion. The two storey building, when completed, will be one of the biggest library within the North Central geopolitical zone in the Country. It has the capacity to accommodate over three thousand readers at a time. The project was conceived and executed by Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna.

Furthermore, the Governing Council interacted with the staff members. They assured them of their readiness to improve on what they met on ground and solicited for the cooperation of staffers.

The visit of the eight Governing Council to the College was not just a success but was enlivening. It beckoned hope. With the caliber of people in the Council, the staff of the Federal College of Education kontagora look forward to seeing more developmental projects sprouting allover the College as well as raising the College to the status of Federal University of Education.

The Council are expected to depart home after their inaugural meeting that took place on Wednesday 4th September, 2024. The Council were also given a treat by the Management.
