Jimoh Ibrahim makes stand on Tinubu’s 2027 ambition known.
By Steve Ovirih.
Ondo South Senator in The National Assembly and Chairman Senate Committee on Interpaliamentry worldwide, Senator (Dr.)Jimoh Ibrahim ,CFR, has categorically threw his weight behind the 2nd term Presidential ambition of the incumbent President of Nigeria , Bola Tinubu.
Known for his straightforward opinion on political and economic discourse , the Igbotako born Federal Lawmaker has also deconstructed the much touted ‘Northern Nigerian disconnect ‘ from the idea of the continuity of the Tinubu Presidency beyond 2027.
Speaking on a prime time public discourse, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim noted that the idea being bandied that the north as a geographical group is opposing President Bola Tinubu is based on incomplete evidence, jaundiced hypothesis or outright wishful thinking. He noted that while it is okay for some people to sit comfortably as arm chair critics and throw the conspiracy theory of the North opposing the South, their thinking is delusional as such North versus South divide does not exist in the real Nigerian body politic.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim noted with sure footed confidence that both the elite and the masses from across the Northern part of Nigeria are rooting for President Bola Tinubu’s second term, stressing that this is the overwhelming reality that is confounding the pockets of naysayers up North, making them to project into the frenzy of hasty generalization. He averred that the North is not a single Whatsap group of 68 percent members voting no confidence for or against a particular candidate even as he stressed that the North cuts across diverse states with statistics that indicate diverse voting pattern which put a lie to the assertion of North squiring up to wanting to oppose the South in the 2027 Presidential election in Nigeria.
Pointing out that President Bola Tinubu will record a resounding victory in the 2027 poll, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim reminded doubters that when the President vied in 2023, even when he was not an incumbent then, he won a resounding victory, wondering what has changed now that he is now the President and a performing one at that. He said Tinubu is a politician who has forged his alliances long before now and won election even when he did not enjoy the perk of the presidential convoy as security detail. While noting that he has his pity for the blind critics who are rather fixated on power change but cannot see the achievements of the president in the two years of his first term, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim counseled them not to pit the north against the south as none of such petty divide exists in the Nigerian geopolitical space. He maintained that there is no single political gladiator from the North who can boldly and singlehandedly say that he speaks for and on behalf of the good people of Northern Nigeria, therefore debunking the projection that the North is bonding together to displace the Presidency of Bola Tinubu in 2027. He said individual wishful thinkers have right to their grand but blurry illusion yet they cannot generalize such illusion as the take of the entire North as doing such will amount to assuming the omnipotent complex for the north which cuts across Kano, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Borno and many more states , stressing that in these northern states are individual voters whose decision cannot be harvested by a few group of power grabbers who are not enamoured of the giant strides of the Bola Tinubu led Presidency.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim indicated that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, is a party rich in winning strategies and doesn’t confine itself to mere games of guesswork. He added that APC doesn’t hinge its campaign on catch phrases as the party has already begun another round of strategic thinking ahead of 2027. He charged those stoking the embers of disunity in the North to see Nigeria as bigger than their divide and rule agenda , encouraging them to focus on the national discourse of unity and the economic growth of Nigeria, even as he maintained that their plot to foster a North versus South discourse has revealed their underbelly as confused people who simply aim to gain from propagating a discordant tune against the Tinubu Presidency, describing such machination as an idea that is dead on arrival.
