In the political clime anywhere the world over, the polity is deemed fortunate to have very busy medical personnel coming to play key political roles not for anything but for the fact that they bring sure footed clinical mindset into political administration.
As Ondo State goes into the Primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in April, one name has continued to ring bell because of his global reckoning and his impactful contribution to humanity through his impressive medical career; he is no other person than Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, OON, University lecturer, Forensic expert par excellence and Professor of Pathology.
The best of his medical administrative acumen is exhibited during trying periods as his management of the Covid 19 challenge in Nigeria, driving national awareness and providing breath taking up to date health and well-being information on the virus was superlative and top notch. But for the Dayo Faduyile led NMA’s handling of the Coronavirus fall out in Nigeria, not a few Nigerians would have died of ‘the information mismanagement of the Covid scourge.’
For Prof. Faduyile, his activism as NMA leader started right from when he began his journey into the medical profession and interestingly, the trained Doctor turned Professor of Forensic Medicine started his medical career in Ondo State.
Does Faduyile have adequate intellectual wherewithal to govern Ondo State ? The answer is very obvious in his antecedent. Having left NMA leadership at the national level, Prof. Faduyile served in Ondo State as Special Adviser on Health to The Governor. And in that regard, the heir to the throne of Abodi of Ikaleland acquitted himself creditably well , profering policies that engendered health insurance scheme across Ondo State within the civil service structure , while improving primary health care which he is very passionate about, among other health inclined policies.
The saying goes that what the state needs for stability is a philosopher king or the king as a philosopher : ‘ the city will not rest until a philosopher becomes the king or the king becomes a philosopher. ” Prof. Faduyile is a fusion of ‘ philosopher king and the king as a philosopher ‘ in a manner of speaking.
Prof.Faduyile’s lineage and background is also of reckoning ; he is a Prince of worthy birth, born and bred by parentage who instilled discipline in him , providing for him at the cradle the necessary foundation for a blossoming future.
Prof.Faduyile no doubt is passionate about governing Ondo State; he is not a stranger to such contest only that this time round based on his wide consultation among the APC heavyweights whose opinion counts and his wide acceptability , he is well positioned as the model APC Gubernatorial flag bearer.
