Akeredolu, a legend in life and in death – Dayo Faduyile
By Steve Ovirih
Ondo State All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Aspirant and Crown Prince of Abodi of Ikaleland, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, has commiserated with the entire Akeredolu dynasty of Owo Kingdom as the burial programmes for the immediate past Governor of Ondo State , Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON , rev up in full gear.
The former National President, Nigeria Medical Association, NMA and Special Adviser on Health to The Late Governor, in a flowing tribute he penned down in an official Press Statement which was obtained by the polity.net , noted that Governor Akeredolu will be remembered both in life and in death as the indefatigable champion and legend of The Southwest, whose charismatic leadership was top notch and second to none.
Prof. Faduyile noted that it takes a bold pro establishment key stakeholder like the Owo born legal luminary and dyed in the wool politician of Akeredolu’s standard to stick his neck out when it mattered and weighed in on the need for regional policing to protect the South West from the menacing posture of the terrorizing intruders who at a time almost visited a reign of terror and fear upon the Southwest. Faduyile added that the south west security network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, the making and brain child of Late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was the only measure that was actively deployed to combat the threat of Boko
Haram across the swathe of land making up the Southwest.
The Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine said Gov. Akeredolu lived a life that was emblematic of unrestrained love and empathy towards the masses and the ordinary people of the state as showcased in his ‘ Redeemed Agenda ‘ , noting that the late Governor’s giant stride will remain evergreen in the history of the Sunshine State.
While stressing that his death was painful and unexpected, Faduyile said the people of Ondo State will miss Gov. Akeredolu, his warmth , his sharp and unflinching position on matters in the polity that made him to be loved across the Southwest by the people of Yoruba race who saw in his personality a rare champion of the cause of securing the South West against internal aggression and external insurrection.
” The reality is that a good mentor is gone ; a legend per excellence and a voice of reason whose constructive opinions on national discourse had always counted.
” There is in Gov. Akeredolu’s death a huge loss for the state, the Yoruba race and entire nation but we take solace in the fact that in his life time, he made his mark and he made indelible mark in the sand of time which remain evergreen,”
Prof. Dayo Faduyile Prayed God to console his wife, Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu, the children, grand children , the In- laws, Olowo-in Council and all the people of Owo over the demise of the former Chief executive of Ondo State.
Faduyile added that the best memory the people of Ondo State can give Gov. Akeredolu in death is to continue to cooperate with the All Progressives Congress while charging them to project among them for the job of the next Governor a cool headed , calm, forthright and productive candidate who will continue with good jobs of the former Governor whose administration was all about improving the lots of the masses, stressing that his desire to aspire for the office of Ondo State Governor is hinged on the treasured ideal of the continuation of the development agenda of Gov . Akeredolu whom he described as a formidable mentor and a leader with a genuine mentoring which he benefitted from as his Special Adviser on Health.
