Lagos-Calaba Super Highway: Ayedatiwa carpeted on bad representation, lackluster approach to governance
– By Babatunde Kuye
The people of Ondo State has been urged to compel the state governor, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa to wake up to his responsibility of adequate and effective representation and protection of the interests of the people of the state.
This call was made by the gubernatorial candidate for Labour Party in the November 16 governorship election when reacting to the edging out of Ondo State coast line out of the Lagos-Calaba coastal road.
“Recently, President Tinubu started the construction of the Lagos-Calaba super highway along coast of Nigeria. The greatest beneficiary of that project would be Ondo State that has the longest shoreline in the Nigeria.”
Ebiseni stated that, the road coming from Lagos, on getting to the boundary of Ondo and Ogun State has been diverted and tilted North ward such that the coastal areas of Ondo has been avoided by the alignment and re-allignment of the road.
The Labour Party Candidate lamented that this will be a great monumental disadvantage to us the people of the state.
Ebiseni, a one time chairman of Ilaje/Ese-odo local government and three time State Commissioner for Environment and Minerals Resources said “the road will for instance stop the Ayetoro coastal erosion, facilitate the execution and development of the deep sea port, the free trade zone, open up the abundant resources in the blue sea economy, tourist potential of the Atlantic among other monumental development.
“People of Ondo State should ask Mr Governor who incidentally is from ilaje to wake up and engage the Federal government. Every areas the road has passed, the community has been mobilised to engage the Federal government for alignment and re-allignment in their own strategic and socio-economic interests.
“Unfortunately, in our case the critical and natural course of the road in our state has been avoided and it is such a pity. It is not something we should keep quiet on. It is the responsibility of the governor to engage the federal government to ensure that we are given maximum benefit from that road.”
On the interventionist agencies like the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ebiseni stated that the two agencies which used to be a government on their own as institutions for the development particularly of the coastal areas has literally been abandoned in our state because we have a governor even though of ilaje origin who does not seems to know what to do with OSOPADEC and NDDC.
He called on the people of the state to vote massively for Labour Party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election as Sola Ebiseni and Dayo Awude are determined to bring about the type of government people of Ondo State enjoyed under the last Labour Party administration.
“As far as we are concerned, our experience is our weapon to give the people of Ondo State the type of governance they expect” Ebiseni promised.
