SGN Marks BTO’s Birthday with Humanitarian Outreach to Motherless Home

Donates Food Items, Shares Moments of Joy with Children

The Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) has commemorated this year’s BTO’s birthday with a humanitarian visit to a motherless home, opting for service to humanity over conventional celebration.

The outreach, described as a people-centered initiative, was carried out exclusively by members of the Network, who spent time engaging with the children and creating a warm, lively atmosphere through interaction, storytelling, and shared activities.

As part of the visit, SGN donated essential food items, including bags of rice and cartons of noodles, to support the welfare of the children. Beyond the donations, the highlight of the event was the personal connection established between members and the children.

In an emotional moment during the visit, the children sang in honour of BTO and offered prayers for him, a gesture that underscored the impact of the engagement and left a lasting impression on all present.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the Sunshine Grassroots Network, Hon. Dayo Awude, said the initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to compassion and grassroots development.

“This outreach embodies what BTO represents,” he stated. “It is not merely about celebration, but about extending kindness, showing compassion, and making meaningful contributions to society. At Sunshine Grassroots Network, we remain dedicated to initiatives that uplift communities and bring hope to those who need it most.”

Caregivers at the home commended the gesture, noting that such visits provide both material support and emotional encouragement for the children, while also boosting staff morale.

The initiative, according to observers, highlights the importance of using celebratory moments as opportunities for social impact, reinforcing the values of empathy, generosity, and community service.
