Celebrating World Menstrual Hygiene Day: Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun Supports Female Students with Sanitary Pads and More

The Director General of Industrial Training Fund (ITF) ,Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun distributes over 1000 Sanitary Pads, toothpastes, and detergents to female students of the Mount Carmel school in Ikare Akoko.

in celebration of world menstrual hygiene 2025.

 

This initiative aimed to advocate for free sanitary pads for young girls in their advocacy efforts and promote hygienic menstrual periods.

Miss Precious, led the team to distributed the sanitary pads, toothpastes, detergents to the girls in mount Carmel secondary school in Ikare Akoko.

She said that inability of the girls to have free access to sanitary pads had posed bigger problems on many occasions. She added that efforts from Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun is one of the best ways to solve the problem especially in this hardship in the country.

One of the girls who was menstruating during the advocacy visit was happy that the timely intervention would make her save her pocket money for a year.

 

Moreover, the gesture would go a long way in making her take charity work as a priority in the journey of her life.

 

Mrs Ekundayo who was the principal of the mount carmel school said that the gesture was aimed at preventing female students from running home during their Menstrual cycle since many of them cannot afford sanitary pads on their own.

 

She noted that the students would miss important academic activities while being pressed to go home by their monthly flow.

 

“I have observed that most female Students stay at home during their Menstrual period because of the same or inability to afford a sanitary pads to keep them safe and healthy in School. Most of these girls missed classes during their Menstrual period which eventually affect their performance in school because of the fear of stains on their uniforms” she stressed.

Chief (Mrs) Modupe, media coordinator to Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun stressed the importance of personal hygiene for the girls; saying that carelessness on their part could make or mar them for life.

 

She advised the students on the use of reusable sanitary pads ,adding that with reusable sanitary pads, toothpastes, and detergents the girls can conveniently attend school during their period days without any fear of getting their uniforms stained

 

Miss Precious, the initiator used the medium to call on parents to always sensitize their female children on how to manage menstrual period so as to prepare their minds ahead of the time, in the same vein she appreciate Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun for his almgiving gesture.

The Senior Prefect of the school, Dada Mercy thanked Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun for donating the sanitary pads, toothpastes and detergents to all the female students in the school, praying that God will continue to bless him.

 

Miss Precious, the initiator remarked further that there is a need to support young girls and women to improve healthy life and sanitary condition.

 

No fewer than 1000 girl students benefited. The beneficiaries were grateful to Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun for the hand of kindness.
