2027: EBISENI JOINS APC WITH SUPPORTERS, DECLARES SUPPORT FOR TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION
Chief Sola Ebiseni, Secretary-General of Afenifere, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections and declared his support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ebiseni said his decision to support Tinubu’s second term is in the overall interest of Nigeria’s stability, development and progress, noting that the presidency remaining in Southern Nigeria would contribute to the political stability of the federation.
He explained that although President Tinubu is not the only presidential candidate from the South, the President has an advantage of already having his policies and programmes clearly articulated and being implemented. According to him, a second term would provide the opportunity to consolidate and improve on these policies rather than starting afresh with a new administration whose policies may take years to mature.
Ebiseni also defended the removal of fuel subsidy, noting that its continuation would have placed additional pressure on states that were already struggling to meet their responsibilities to citizens. He expressed concern that a return to the subsidy regime would amount to a reversal of the economic reforms already undertaken.
He further argued that President Tinubu needs a second term to allow some of the administration’s major socio-economic and security policies to fully materialise, including the proposed State Police and the expansion of Nigerian Army divisions from eight to 12.
On the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Ebiseni described the project as a major, life-changing project for the Ilaje coastal people of Ondo State. He said his support for Tinubu is also driven by the importance of ensuring the full implementation of the project, particularly the proper coastal alignment through Ondo State.
For Ebiseni, the decision to join the APC with his supporters and support President Tinubu’s re-election is anchored on political stability, continuity of policies, economic reforms, security, and the development of the Ilaje coastal communities and Nigeria as a whole.
