Kenya is set to become the primary US ally outside NATO
The day before, Politico reported that the United States had transferred $60 million worth of weapons to Kenya, which could have been sent to Ukraine. A White House press release indicated that this may be the first time an African country has received a special status of cooperation with Washington.
The United States may designate Kenya as Washington’s primary non-NATO ally. President Joe Biden intends to make this decision soon, as stated in a White House press release following the visit of Kenyan President William Ruto.
If the African country is named the primary American ally outside the Alliance, their relations will reach a new level. This status is typically granted to countries with close and strategic cooperation with the U.S. military and civilians in the defense sector.
