Ondo Education in Shambles, Says Labour Party Candidate
The standard bearer of the Labour Party (LP) in the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo state, Sola Ebiseni, on Sunday said education had collapsed in the state.
Ebiseni accused the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of destroying the education sector in the state.
The LP candidate made the accusation during his campaign in Akure, Akure Local Government Area of the state.
He promised to provide free and qualitative education in primary and secondary schools if elected as governor.
Ebiseni lamented that some of the programmes initiated by the Labour Party in Ondo state had been abandoned by the present government.
He said: “I will give free education like we had in the Labour Party government in the past. I was part of the last Labour Party government in the state with my deputy governorship candidate between 2009 and 2017.
“We had mother and child hospitals as part of our health programme. There was free education at primary and secondary levels. There was a free bus shuttle for students, payment of WAEC fee and our tertiary institutions fee was heavily subsidised.
“We have let the people understand that we are a socio -welfare political party. Education is not only going to be free but it will be qualitative with ICT components. And it will be compulsory as no child of school age will be seen on the streets.”
The LP candidate promised to prioritise security, make farms safe and stamp out criminal activities in the state.
Ebiseni also vowed that his government would tap the abundant coaster and forest resources to ensure the development and progress of the Sunshine state.
