Obasanjo storms Adebanjo’s bedroom says I am in search of my elder brother.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was this afternoon at the Lekki Lagos residence of the late Chief Ayo Adebanjo.
Received by different groups including members of the family and Afenifere led by Oba Olaitan the Deputy Leader, Obasanjo, in a typical Yoruba culture, demanded for the keys and headed straight to the bedroom of the late leader of Afenifere saying in Yoruba “ e fun mi ni kokoro, ibi ni mo ti ri egbon mi kehin, mo fe lo wo boya o si wa nbe”.(give me the keys this is where I last saw my elder brother, I want to see if he is still there”.
Addressing the gathering, Obasanjo who was in the place not too long after the departure of Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of the President, described Ayo Adebanjo as a man of abundant courage who worked hand- in-hand with Chief Edwin Clark and died hand- in hand- with him. According to Obasanjo, “my elder brother never saw anything wrong in whatever Edwin Clark said and vice versa. They worked together for the good of Nigeria and died together in glory.
He told the gathering that when he last visited Adebanjo recently, “he asked me by his bedside if there was anything he ought to do which he had not done and when I answered that he had done all he needed to do, he heaved a sigh of relief and said “I am going, I leave the rest to you about Nigeria not minding that those of us he is leaving in charge of Nigeria are already awaiting our tickets though not yet at the departure lounge”.
